DESCRIPTION

The Project Management Office team of North America Operations Engineering is building comprehensive and effective Project Management Tools supported by database systems in Amazon Web Service. This is a huge challenge considering the quantity and scale of the projects that we help various teams manage and execute at high speeds using our tools. To accomplish our goals, we are interested in finding top candidates that are ready to take on challenges, obsess over customers, and lead change.

We are looking for a successful and outstanding MySQL DB Engineer to build/engineer and administer database systems to support our highly complex and mission-critical project management tools. The DB Engineer should have deep knowledge of MySQL internals and other relational engines like SQL Server. The ideal candidate should have experience in the architecture, design, and implementation of large production systems with high transaction volumes along with AWS Accounts, RDS, configuring security groups, managing IAM users, S3, redshift and database security. The candidate will also be responsible for fast-paced complex distributed database environments supporting with large databases and complex integrations. Successful candidates will have the ability to rapidly troubleshoot complex technical problems under pressure.

Tasks/Responsibilities
· Ownership of operational stability for existing PostGresSQL, MYSQL, and Oracle databases on AWS RDS
· Work closely with business owners to ensure best possible resource utilization while ensuring system performance
· Design and produce on engineering efforts to ensure operational excellence across the fleet and Amazon as a whole
· Research, test and lead in the adoption of new technologies and approaches that improve database performance, stability and resource utilization
· Support issue resolution and ability to capture and act on customer feedback
· Travel may be up to 25%

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Three years experience with administration and engineering of PostGresSQL, MYSQL, and Oracle databases on AWS RDS
· Three years experience with performance tuning of PostGresSQL, MYSQL, and Oracle databases, processes, and queries· Experience with testing, validation, implementation, and trouble-shooting skills of performance and resource optimization improvements
· Experience with Python scripting
· Experience with maintaining development, test and production environments
· Experience/familiarity with data/database migration procedures and tools
· Experience with Root Cause analysis for production-related database issues
· Day-to-day experience supporting highly scalable, distributed service-oriented systems
· Experience with system integrations, ETL, data warehouse, queries and stored procedures
· Experience with fundamental relational database design, data warehouse and Business Intelligence best practices, methodologies and terminology
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related degree, or equivalent experience
