DESCRIPTION

Amazon is seeking a highly motivated Data Collection Specialist to join our growing data collection team. Data Collection Specialists work onsite at Amazon offices and in field locations to gather speech and language data from live participants at various locations in the South San Francisco Bay Area. Project hours may include nights and weekends, with on-call availability a must. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented and flexible, with a keen eye for process improvement as the team identifies bugs and enhances the methods of data collection.

Primary Responsibilites

-Work one-on-one with research participants by training and assisting them through the research process to ensure research objectives are met
-Prepare and maintain training documentation and Wiki pages to support diverse programs
-Adhere to data collection protocols including securing testing materials, handling logistics, troubleshooting technical issues and providing daily reports
-Deliver high quality work under tight deadlines
-Work autonomously with minimum direction
-Communicate internally with team members to identify issues and propose solutions for long term sustainability of processes
-Support several projects at one time and accept re-prioritization as required
-Continuously evaluate existing tools and processes for temporary employee training and task management, and propose solutions to invent and simplify
-Lead individual, defined projects from end to end, from recruitment to execution
-Work directly with technical teams to define key pain points with data collection technologies/techniques and assist with implementing recommended modifications
-Assist co-workers with on-the-ground technical troubleshooting of data collection tools and processes

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

-Bachelor's degree
-At least 1 year experience with speech and language data collection and processing—End-to-end, hands-on experience with all aspects of data collections (recruiting, moderation, analysis, reporting)
-Experience working in a corporate environment
-Experience working with prototype assets
-Experience using MS Office, Excel, Mac OS, Confluence and Wiki tools
-Experience moderating a 1:1 session with users independently in the field
-Experience troubleshooting computers and consumer electronic devices
