DESCRIPTION

Amazon is looking for an outstanding Business Intelligence Engineer to join the Amazon Operations Finance BI team. In order to evaluate the performance of the business and make the best forward looking decisions, we need to store and analyze huge sets of data related to transportation and fulfillment centers. We need to make sure that those data flows work reliably, and combine them to create unambiguous new data sets that serve reporting or will be further used in forecasting processes.

We are looking for someone striving to make a difference to our business. For that, we need exceptional people with strong numeracy and out-standing technical and database skills, to work together with analysts all over Europe in cross-functional teams to meet the data needs of European Operations. It is essential that the candidate is willing to work hands-on with SQL, Python and Amazon-internal tools and has the persistence to overcome technical challenges on the way.

Main responsibilities will include:
· Own data processes originating from external sources and within our own systems.
· Implement mechanisms that monitor these data flows and their quality, to ensure the optimal functioning of downstream systems.
· Work with business partners to source new tables and set up data flows meeting their requirements.
· Design new data models that allow the efficient storage and retrieval of big amounts of data, implementation in MSSQL/MySQL.
· Build up an excellent knowledge of relevant data sets in your domain, and partner with related teams to provide them with the right data in efficient ways.
· Centralize and automate forecasting processes using data mining models.
· Continuously innovate to optimize data flows and models, to deal with increasing amounts of data and to increase the degree of automation in finance processes.

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Degree in a technical field (Computer Science, Information Management, Mathematics, Business Informatics)
· Advanced analytical skills and strong detail-orientation
· Experience in designing table schemas
· Proficiency in SQL and performance optimization, Microsoft Excel/PowerPivot and ETL
· Knowledge of scripting languages as e.g. Python, Perl
· Basic knowledge in Software Development and Linux
· Basic knowledge of statistics
· Excellent English skills
· Good communication skills and team player
· Strong drive to continuously improve existing structures
· Work autonomously with little guidance
