DESCRIPTION

Amazon Web Services (AWS) Finance team is seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) with a passion developing BI frameworks, technical architecture, tools and reporting dashboards needed to analyze data, and dive deep on AWS organization performance/optimization. The successful candidate will build analytics on very large data sets in one of the world's largest and most complex data warehouse environments. The candidate will also be able to stretch their skills in Machine Learning and Data Lake Technologies. Our data warehouse is built on AWS cloud technology like EC2, S3, and Redshift. Our current reporting architecture leverages Tableau, Microstrategy, AWS QuickSight, Salesforce and internal custom email based flash reporting tools and systems.

The role requires strong understanding of large datasets and Finance, solid interpersonal and communication skills, a keen attention to detail, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, an entrepreneurial ability to work with minimal direction, and rapid prototyping. As a BI Engineer in AWS Finance:
· You will be leading the technical charter on reporting platform for self-service analytics and you will solve complex analytical problems at a global scale.
· You will have a direct interaction with AWS businesses, finance, and other BI teams to translate their business requirements into technical specifications.
· You will partner effectively with the data engineering team on common areas of scalability, data quality management, data delivery management and performance optimization.
· You will work closely with the business and technical teams in analysis on many non-standard and unique business problems and use creative-problem solving to deliver actionable output.
· Your work will have a direct impact on the day-to-day decision making and operational planning processes within the AWS Finance organization

Additional responsibilities will include:
· Development of reporting, analytics and decision support to enable the AWS Finance org leaders and teams create accountability and mechanisms for revenue targets, operational efficiencies, manpower planning globally, etc.
· Microstrategy Developer with an expertise in creating projects, BI models and Cubes for Self-Service solutions.
· Tableau Developer with an expertise to create visualizations that provide business insights for our partners.
· Being one of the key builders of our BI Data Marts for supporting our Finance org and other Amazon Corporate organizations.
· Research Machine Learning algorithms and implement technical solutions tailored to individual finance team org and business needs, and tested on large datasets
· Manipulating/mining data from database tables (Redshift, Oracle, Data Warehouse)
· Maintaining ETL processes related to BI Data Marts

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical field
· 5+ years of industry experience with BI Development – reports, metadata layer, dashboards, using SQL queries or other BI tools.
· 3+ years proficiency with TABLEAU, Microsoft Excel to include making charts, data manipulation, pivot tables, creating macros, and visual basic knowledge
· Able to write SQL scripts for analysis and reporting ( SQL, MySQL)
· Experience processing, filtering, and presenting large quantities (Millions to Billions of rows) of data
