Java Software Engineer - Amazon Robotics/Virtual Systems Engine Team - Boston area (North Reading, MA):

The Virtual Systems Engines team designs and engineers core simulation engines used to simulate Amazon's global fulfillment operations. We accelerate Amazon's growth by allowing the evaluation and optimization of buildings using new technologies before construction starts. We build the core technology needed to simulate new software, robotic technology and the fulfillment operations of tomorrow.

This is a hands-on position where you will be involved in everything from design to delivery of tools to support the simulation and design of Amazon robotic fulfillment operations. As a software development engineer, you will be responsible for driving the technical direction of a complex software system. You will be working with a cross-functional team to prototype, design, and develop software solutions that span local, service oriented and cloud-based systems.

A commitment to teamwork and strong communication skills (to both business and technical partners) are absolute requirements. Creating reliable, scalable, and high-performance software products requires technical expertise, a sound understanding of the fundamentals of computer science and software engineering, and practical experience building large-scale distributed systems. Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Completed BS in Computer Science or equivalent
· 3+ years of experience building successful production software platforms and systems
· 3+ years of hands-on experience in Java or C++ as well as other high-level languages such as Objective-C and Python
· Computer Science fundamentals in algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis
· Experience developing cloud software services and an understanding of design for scalability, performance and reliability.
