Description

Over the last decade, travel websites such as Expedia, Orbitz and Kayak have become key actors in the airline shopping business. The boom of the Internet and mobile flight search is never-ending, with an increase rate of +50% customer searches every year.

Amadeus is the leading IT provider in the travel industry.

Search, Shopping and Pricing division is responsible for delivering high quality services related to the ticket and ancillary services price, change, refund calculation as well as to the shopping and search of best flight/price solutions. Within the division, TAE teams (Technology, Architecture and Engineering) are responsible to drive and support the division architecture, technology and engineering practices in the context of a complex distributed system composed of dozens of environments hosted on nearly two thousands of servers. The architecture relies on advanced caching framework, communication framework and fast algorithms to compute the best flight/price and respond in a minimum of time.

Objective of the internship is to help the team toassess and implement a new solution for deploying and running pre-computation services on developers’ laptops. The goal is to reuse the developer’s workstations CPUs when there are not idle to increase the production data centre capacity and so increase the customer pre-computed recommendations quality.

This is an opportunity to use leading-edge technologies such as Docker containers, ActiveMQ or Kafka message brokers, Couchbase and MongoDB NoSQL document stores...

The trainee will participate in following activities:

· Analysis of current pre-shopping architectures
· Review of technical solutions in Amadeus
· Help the team to design and implement a prototype able to compute the best travel recommendations to go to a destination on the developer workstation.

Requirements

· Creative and analytical mind
· Team player
· Experience in C/C++, Shell, Python
· NoSQL data store knowledge is a plus
· Docker experience is a plus
