Internship Description:

The Amadeus flight selection platform is responsible for providing itinerary combinations for a given origin and destination couple. It is processing up to 100,000 requests per second at peak time in order to find best travel solutions.

The Minimum Connecting Time (MCT) is one of the numerous criteria used to refine and build such travel solutions. It is currently handled from a big rule file that is read linearly finding the applying rules to a current situation. This leads to MCT checks that can be heavily optimized.

Moreover MCT rules are manually updated by domain experts and can take up to 2 days to get in the daily-published file, as there is no available tool to check rule conflicts and issues.

All needed data being already accessible and ready to use, the objective of this study would be to run an analysis on current MCT files and see how we could optimize the rule matching and globally improve MCT rules quality and handling.

Main Responsibilities

· MCT files statistical analysis and description
· MCT match optimization (probably decision trees)
· Build (Python) library providing tools for:
· MCT rule matching for a given travel solution
· MCT rule conflicts detection
· MCT rule closeness detection
· (Graphic) Visualization techniques and comparison for the used methods and comparisons between similar and conflicting rules

Remark: Responsibilities might evolve during the internship based on progress done.
