Team Description
Within Airline IT, Revenue Management division, the Yield and Optimizer group (YOP) is responsible for designing, building, delivering and maintaining Revenue Management solutions. Based on a forecasted demand, the system uses state of the art algorithms in order to drive the prices of the offer. This includes:
· Flight optimization
· Flight availability computation
· Interaction with Inventory system
· User interventions to apply specific business scenarios (special promotion, blacklist etc…)
The group is composed of product definition analysts and software engineers who are closely working together in Agile organised teams.
Main Responsibilities
Often to reach cities that are not covered by their networks, airlines use interline agreements to sell seats on flights from other carrier. The revenue earned by the sale of the ticket is then prorated between the various participating airlines using agreements defined by the IATA organization. Sometimes airlines can have specific agreements – called Special Prorated Agreement – resulting from a mutual consent between the involved parties.
Purpose of the internship is to automatize the Special Proration Agreement feed into the system from the database of another system. With the current behavior revenue management airline agents need to manually enter those numerous agreements through a Graphical User interface. The Revenue Accounting system, on another hand, already has a database filled with those values. Besides the Revenue Accounting system automatically keeps those values up to date thanks to the IATA Prorate Manual publications.
