Summary of Responsibilities

Enable the traveler experience on a smart speaker (such as Amazon Echo, Google Home, etc.) via an intelligent personal assistant (i.e. Amazon Alexa, Apple Siri, etc.) interacting with a ReST/JSON API. This activity will represent a chance for the candidate to contribute to a flagship project in the R&D division while working on innovative subjects and technologies .

Background

Leading the industry changes, Amadeus is currently investing in the definition of ReST/JSON APIs to expose the business of its core products. The Digital API is one of the most representative projects of this initiative and aims to provide to the airlines a set of solutions for the flight booking operations.

This project, developed by several teams spread all over the world (Nice, London, Malaga, Bangalore), has been launched in April 2016. After the delivery in production of a first phase, it is now moving towards new important milestones and challenges. Surely, an arduous endeavor is providing access, through any digital device (responsive web app, mobile native app, chat-bot, etc.), to the most advanced booking system while ensuring the best possible user experience.

Major responsibilities

The trainee will start from a preliminary study phase to evaluate the state of the art of the IoT and which speaker device(s) could be used for empowering the travel experience.

Once the target device defined, the trainee will focus on the interaction with the API: interface to use, network and architecture constraints, etc. The trainee will design and develop algorithmic solutions and functional prototypes that will allow to demonstrate the potential of the API use over IoT. For the definition of the scenarios to achieve, the trainee could lean on the collaboration with marketing experts: look for a flight and go for the booking while speaking to the smart speaker might be the base case scenario.

Technologies

The trainee will be required to produce specification document, user guide and developer guide comprehensively describing the project using appropriate tooling and standards.
The trainee will be proficient in web technologies (HTML/CSS/Javascript), Java/J2EE and potentially Node.js. Fluent technical English, both written and spoken, is required.

The trainee will have to demonstrate his ability to communicate within a team as well as his motivation to achieve a task within a defined timeframe.
