Team description

The Digital Design & Services (DDS) department manages customer and project bespoke solutions, apart from the functional departments in the organization.

Qantas Competency Center (QCC) team is in charge of managing UI web development and delivery for one of our major customers: the airline Qantas. The team is fully dedicated to this Airline and implement technical and functional updates on the booking and servicing website (www.qantas.com.au).
Team is international and is has 20 persons.

After one year of work we expect to deliver a full redesign of the booking flow based on latest frontend technologies (Angular 2 / bootstrap 4) in December 2016. This new application is expected to scale with many projects planned in 2017.

Main responsabilities

The aim of the internship is to study different possibilities to optimize our new Angular 2 application in order to be able to scale with future projects. The optimization will be technical based on Angular 2 framework possibilities and also functional by updating the way the user navigates in the flow.

The trainee will help the team to build a prototype based on the current application. He will be in contact with technical team as well as other competency center having the same requirements. The goal is to have a final proposal of optimized flow.

The trainee will study and learn the possibilities given by Angular 2 as well as implementation in other teams for other airlines. He will also discover the guidelines of J2EE development to implement web applications.

Requirements

Web UI skills are required (CSS, HTML5, Javascript). Knowledge on Angular 2 is a plus.

Java programming within a J2EE environment, including Java Web Application technologies (JSP, Servlet) is a plus.
