JOB PURPOSE/ROLE

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for all Regulatory Compliance related to Sale & Use Tax and Canadian GST/HST returns and registration for both the US and Canada, and 1099 reporting both testing (pilot) and production. Resolving IRS inquiries and IRS notices to completion. W-9 collection experience
Maintain and manage "Check Inquiry" email box and resolve both email and phone requests. Provide excellent customer service by answering inquiries timely. Assist in process changes and efficiencies.
Provide customer service to your business partners both internal and external on issues related to your team and areas of responsibility.
Prepare/analyze monthly expense bookings and re-class journal entries for the North American entities of the AGCS business unit. Review invoices for potential Sale & Use tax charges. File those accordingly to each states filing date. Complete Canada monthly HST/GST reconciliation.
Contribute to department and organizational special projects as assigned by management.
Document and update policies, procedures and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility and ensure they are up to date.
KEY REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor Degree: Bachelors and or Associates degree with an emphasis in Accounting, Finance or Business.
Knowledge of W-9 and 1099 requirements
3-5 years of experience in an accounting department with a preference of experience the Insurance Industry but not mandatory
1-3 recent years of experience with Sale & Use Tax processes
Ideal experience, though not required: Canada HST/GST a plus
Ideal experience, though not required: 1042 Withholdings and tax returns
Knowledge of SAP and Accounts Payable functions
Accounting technical knowledge to accurately record payments, re-class bookings and other journal entries
Solid computer literacy, with advanced proficiency in MS Office software, e.g. Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Knowledge of IRS 1099 reporting, in addition to Sale & Use Tax filings per state
Excellent verbal, written, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong organizational and analytical skills
Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
Adaptability to change and accept challenging assignments
