Job Overview
Come join our team! AkzoNobel is looking for a Production Manager for Reading, site. This position will oversee manufacturing and interact with other departments.
Ensure timely completion of production plan/orders. Supervise all activities and production personnel.  
Take ownership of manufacturing, safety, quality, cost, deliver, service and people engagement.


Key Accountabilities
* Drive the HSE&S initiatives and Ensure all site safety rules are strictly followed to that no injuries occur. Work with the HSE and BST team to drive continuously improvement of the safety of operations at the facility.
* Drive quality initiatives and ensure all in process quality checks are being performed in accordance with established procedures. Ensure all quality related process controls are working properly at all times. Work with the Quality Department to determine new ways to ensure a high quality product.
* Work with supply planning to ensure production priorities are being followed and equipment/batch status is updated to deliver the adherence to plan with proper resource utilization in the factory to deliver the business needs.
* Communicate production targets to production team. Measure and communicate status versus these targets. Take corrective actions if targets are not being met. 
* Work with CIM and quality for continuous improvement and Process Improvement to implement best practices to ensure the best product quality.
* Implement lean tools to improve production efficiency, reduce costs, and reduce waste.
* Drive the 5S and visual workplace to ensure 5S and housekeeping rules are followed. Work with technicians and team leaders to continuously improve our 5S and housekeeping systems for a better place to work.
* Monitor and keep track of daily production operators and team leader performance. Coach and train subordinates to improve lagging performance and recognize strong performers. Prepare mid-year and annual performance appraisals of Supervisors, Operators, and Team Leaders. Ensure all Facility SOPs, Work Instructions, conduct, HSE, and attendance rules are being followed and issue disciplinary action where needed.
* Take action to support any new management initiatives, according to site strategy, site vision and mission.
* Management must lead by example, demonstrate strongly company core values, leadership behaviors and keep focused to attain a very high percentage of time on task and attention to detail to build the high performance culture.
* Develop people capability to deliver the set objectives & long-term needs
* Perform additional duties as required.
* Internal relationships and understanding stakeholder’s needs are critical. This position interacts closely with Management team, quality, Maintenance, Engineering, CI, HR, supply Planning, Warehouse, and Customer Service.

Experience
* Four year degree is required in a relevant field (Engineering, Supply Chain, Sciences or Business is preferred)
* Four or more years of previous supervisory experience is required, preference in a manufacturing environment, chemical or paint industry. 
* In addition, batch production or chemical background is preferred.
* Must be well-versed in Microsoft Office. 
* SAP experience is a plus.
* Demonstrated ability to lead safety initiatives and become a Change Agent.
* Hands-on individual who would thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. 
* Candidate must be able to work in a manufacturing & laboratory environment.
* This position reports to the Site Manager and fully take responsibility for safety, quality, cost, delivery, planning and people relation strategy
