Description of the job

A vacancy for a Software Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in Farnborough. The successful applicant will join TUMZE – Zephyr.

The successful applicant will need to be eligible to gain UK SC Security Clearance to undertake the role.

Tasks & accountabilities

As a member of the Software engineering team you will be responsible for the development of Zephyr Avionics software in the embedded environment, working as part of a small team delivering to tight timescales

You should have proven and demonstrable evidence of delivery and experience on hands on experience in software engineering programming in the C language in the embedded environment.

·  Establish solutions as part of multi-disciplinary product development teams, co-located in Farnborough

·  Take responsibility for own work packages

·  Provide technical inputs and advise wider product development team and peers on progress and issues

·  Continuous improvement. Proactively work towards the improvement quality of outputs and efficiency of working processes.

·  Support anomaly investigations and their resolution, in accordance with internal non-conformance control process

·  Key challenges include the need to maintain good engineering discipline and control, while proactively supporting a dynamic and closely integrated development team, which are responding to a new and evolving market place.

·  Customer schedules are frequently challenging demanding a flexible attitude to working

This role will involve some travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.

Required skills

We are looking for applicants with the following skills and experience:

Knowledge and experience of developing software in an engineering environment.

Essential experience:-

·  Experience in C and C++ development in both Windows and real time embedded environments.

·  Eclipse IDE.

·  Tortoise SVN version control.

·  UML modelling tools.

·  Software development in an engineering environment

Desirable experience:-

·  Experience of the Microsemi Smart Fusion 2 system-on-chip environment.

·  Experience in developing safety critical systems to DO178.

·  Enterprise Architect UML modelling tool.

·  Misra C.

·  Knowledge of static code analysis tools.

·  Trace32 for debug and dynamic code analysis.
Familiarity with Eclipse, MS Visual Studio C++ and Embarcadero C++ Builder

·  Familiarity with SVN version control systems

·  Knowledge of unit test and code coverage tools

Experience of development standards MISRA C / C++, DO178, DO278 and DO330 would be advantageous
