Description of the job
A vacancy for a Stress Engineer in Fatigue and Damage Tolerance (m/f) has arisen within STELIA Aerospace in Toulouse, and more specifically, within the landing gear bay stress calculation team for the A350.
Acting as the interface with the rest of the stress calculation team and with the design team, you will report directly to the fatigue manager of the MLGB (“Main Landing Gear Bay”) team and hierarchically to the batch manager.
You will perform your duties in compliance with the schedule and cost constraints. You will be responsible for conducting studies which will be entrusted to you and for the technical supervision of sub-contractors.
The presentation of activities to the customer and the follow-up of sub-contracted work will involve travelling regularly in the Toulouse region. More rarely, you may be required to travel to the STELIA Aerospace production sites.
Tasks & accountabilities
Your main tasks will be:
• Dimensioning and certification of parts and junctions of the main landing gear bay of the A350 in fatigue and damage tolerance,
• Drafting, checking and verification of stress calculation dossiers,
• Assisting with steering and technical supervision of the external sub-contracting.

Required skills
As the successful candidate, you should have the following qualifications, skills & experience:
• An engineering qualification in mechanical engineering and/or structural stress calculations,
• You will have 5 years of experience in fatigue life calculation and damage tolerance
• Knowledge of:
o behaviour of aeronautical metallic materials,
o AIRBUS stress calculation methods such as:
- AFI law ('Airbus Fatigue Index”),
- standard scenarios of crack propagation,
- determination of constraint concentration coefficients,
o finite element modelling principles (2D/3D meshing, modelling of fasteners, contact).
o NASTRAN and HYPERVIEW finite element calculation software,
o fatigue damage tolerance modules of the AIRBUS ISAMI calculation software,
• Ideally, post-processing capacity in ABAQUS,
• Written and verbal communication skills,
• Involvement and commitment

• Strong commitment and motivation expected to reach objectives, from both a technical and calandar viewpoint,
• Ability to interact with different interfaces (internal, customers or suppliers),
• Advanced level of French and English.
