Description of the job :
A vacancy for a Software Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in Portsmouth. The successful applicant will join our Network Management Systems group.

You will have a broad range of experience with the development of application software and experience of Software development, ideally using the Agile methodology. With your proven delivery record you will be comfortable contributing to all stages of the Software development lifecycle including requirements analysis, design, implementation and test.

You will be happy taking ownership of a development area, engaging in technical discussions with key stakeholders and mentoring junior engineers.

You will be subject to a BPSS check (including a criminal record check) in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs.

Task & accountabilities :
Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:
- Working with architect to develop solution design and select tools, frameworks, and libraries
- Detailed Software Design
- Development of and ownership of a specific area of development
- Task estimation
- Software Development, Testing and Documentation
- Software Configuration and Build Management
- Software and System Integration
- Guiding and mentoring of software engineers as and if required

Your role will involve some travel for business, primarily customer and supplier visits both in the UK and overseas. It's likely this will be no more than once per month.

Required skills :
We are looking for applicants with the following skills and experience:
- Software implementation using a current coding and/or scripting language
- Use of Software configuration tools
- Use of Software change management tools
- Use of unit test tools
- Software & System integration
