Description of the job

A vacancy for a RF/ENS Test Equipment Software Engineer (m/f) has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in Toulouse. The successful candidate will join the RF/CU/Optics engineering team in the Tests - Assembly, Integration and Test (AIT) workshop.

You will take part in the preparation and software support of functional tests and systems of telemetry, command and ranging sub-systems and the payload of Earth observation and telecommunication satellites.

This position will require security clearance or will require being eligible for clearance by the recognised authorities.

Tasks & accountabilities

Your main tasks and activities will include:

·  Developing the software applications and automatic RF measurement and test procedures,
·  Defining software for test means and processing of test data
·  Performing the encoding and validating the test sequences
·  Defining and setting up measuring equipment steering tools,
·  Adapting the payload test software to AIT satellite phases (development and validation), in collaboration with other AIT and test mean suppliers
·  Providing in-service support for test software applications: correcting anomalies, managing requests for upgrades,
·  Providing on-line support for operations (debugging simulator and/or satellite sequences, providing telephone or on-site support),
·  Training the engineering and operations teams in the tools in place and capitalising on this (technical notes, user manual, training course).

You will also be required to take part in on-call duty within the group, in support of clean room operations (occasional duty on nights and weekends)

This role will involve regular travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.

Required skills

As the successful candidate, you should be able to demonstrate some of the following skills and experience:

·  Educated to a 5-year degree level in Engineering (or equivalent), specialising in Radio Frequencies and Software Engineering and with 3 to 5 years of experience in this field
·  Skills in industrial IT and test languages,
·  Extensive knowledge of industrial IT and test languages,
·  Good general skills in the hyperfrequency domain,
·  Practical experience of RF measurements and inter-equipment communications
·  Basic knowledge of RF measurement bench architecture

(hyper-frequency measurement instruments, test performance HMI, etc.) and signal processing (digital processing of images (encoding, compression, encryption), network protocoles)

·  Good knowledge of programming languages, particularly C++, Java, MATLAB
·  Knowledge of and experience using software development tools (Clearcase, SVN, etc.),
·  Knowledge of and experience using office tools (Word, Excel and Access)
·  Knowledge of test oriented development environments (labview, teststand)
·  Good database management (Microsoft SQL server, Access)
·  Thorough technical approach
·  Ability to comply with test deadlines and cost constraints
·  Good team player and good communication skills
·  Ability to summarise
·  English: advanced level,
·  French: fluent level.
