Description of the job

A vacancy for a RAMS Engineer (m/f) has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in Toulouse. You will join the RAMS & System Analysis (TSOTS2) department which analyses key engineering activities, supporting all projects within Airbus Defence & Space. The objective is to support the design definition so that the products delivered by Airbus Defence & Space are dependable and safe as required by legal and regulatory requirements, customer specifications and Astrium Satellites' policy.

As a RAMS Engineer, your main role will be to analyse candidate designs, quantify the results in reliability terms and recommend improvements as necessary to fulfil requirements. You will also support the projects that optimise failure management, in relation to the mission's requirements.

As part of the transnational RAMS Department, you will be expected to carry out Reliability analysis activities in support of the Project System teams within the various Airbus Defence & Space business Units (Earth Navigation & Science, Telecom), whether they be at the System (Flight and/or Ground), Subsystem or Equipment level.

Tasks & accountabilities

In this context, you will be responsible for the following activities:

·  Performing all required Project RAM analyses: Functional analysis, Risk analysis, Reliability Availability and Maintainability Analysis, FMECA (Failure Modes Effect and Criticality Analysis), HSIA (Hardware/Software Interaction Analysis), FTA (Fault Tree Analysis), etc.,
·  Performing all required Project Safety activities: Safety assessments, production of Hazardous Item Lists, Product Liability process support, Safety Submission process support, etc.,
·  Performing trade-offs and redundancy optimisation studies,
·  Supporting FDIR definition: Working in co-engineering mode with the Project Engineering Team to define failure modes to consider and monitoring and recovery actions (the iterative process is supported by FMEA and HSIA),
·  Providing a RAMS data package for reviews and interfacing with customers,
·  Supporting the monitoring and control of equipment or subsystem subcontractors for RAMS aspects,
·  Participating in harmonising and improving the processes and methods,
·  Participating in proposal bids,
·  Managing your time and budgets in accordance with the project and department requirements.

This role will involve some travel for business in Europe and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.

Required skills

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

·  Educated to a degree level in Engineering or a Master's degree, generalist or aerospace with a specialisation in electronics,
·  Initial experience in RAMS engineering processes, methods and tools - including all activities defined in the Missions and activities description (relevant work experience in the Space/Aerospace engineering domains),
·  Knowledge of reliability software tools such as Relex and implementation of RAMS-FDI modelling techniques and tools are a plus,
·  Ability to obtain results: strives for team and individual goals,
·  Good communication skills such as ability to interface with customers and/or subcontractors,
·  Team spirit,
·  Negotiation level of English and French.
