Description of the job

Airbus Toulouse is looking for an intern for a 6-month internship.

The Airbus “Maintenance Programmes Engineering” department (SEME) contributes to the establishment of safe and cost efficient maintenance programmes in accordance with the certification requirements. It also manages the optimisation of the maintenance programmes in order to maintain the aircraft safety and reliability at a minimum cost.

In this scope, Airbus collects maintenance tasks data from Operators. To be part of the justifications for the optimisation of the maintenance programmes and to allow the escalation of the task intervals, the used data must be representative of the fleet. In order to asses this representativeness, Airbus has developed statistical methods based on several different mathematical formulas which provide a margin of error. This margin of error is one of the key parameter required by the Airworthiness Authorities to allow or not allow the escalation of the task intervals.

Airbus currently uses a very conservative formula which has already allowed to do several maintenance programme optimisation exercises (for A320 Family and A330/340 Family) since 2008.

An Airbus objective consists in doing these maintenance programme optimisation exercises either with less data or with a better margin of error.

Since 2010, Airbus has developed new methods with their associated formulas which have been coded in a statistic tool (SCILAB). But before using them for the future maintenance programme optimisation exercises, Airbus needs to validate them on an already done evolution exercise.

This internship will start on 2nd January 2017 (subject to some flexibility).
