Description of the job

A vacancy for an IT engineering internship: Air Traffic Simulator has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space in Toulouse. You will join the ATM Navigation Chains department.
Within the Ground Systems Centre of Competence, the Air Traffic Management and Navigation department has, for over 20 years, contributed to a number of major projects in the air traffic domain on both the national and European level. Its main customers are French such as the DGAC/DSNA (French Civil Aviation Authority/French Air Navigation Service Provider), or European (ENAV, SESAR, etc.).
The activities of the ATM department include both the en-route systems and the Approach/Tower systems.
The department is positioned primarily on the system activities (engineering, architecture, integration/validation and deployment), but is also developing its own products.
In this context, you will be in charge of the design/development of research and development products.
This internship will start in March 2017 (date subject to some flexibility).

Tasks & accountabilities

Within the department, you will carry out the following activities:

·  Development (C++) of an aircraft equipment simulation model in order to integrate it onto the simulation platform,
·  Analyse existing systems and simulators in the Airbus group,
·  Creation of the module in the development environment of the existing simulator:
·  Enrichment of simulation models (XML objects), creation of a specific simulation module for equipment to be simulated (C++),
·  Visualisation of simulation module results using a dedicated HMI (to be developed in C++/Qt),
·  Integration and validation of components within the simulation platform,
·  Production of a document for test implementation,
·  Production of a user guide of the produced graphical user interface.

Required skills

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

·  in the 2nd year of a Master's degree or the 5th year of a university or engineering school, specialising in IT.
·  initial experience/good knowledge of IT development in C++.
·  ideally knowledge of air traffic control (ATC/ATM) and/or Datalink communication systems.
·  Knowledge of software resource management (Git) and Qt graphical library would be a plus.
·  strong interpersonal skills.
·  team player.
·  good analytical skills and are meticulous.
·  Good summary skills.
·  an advanced level of English.
