Description of the job

An internship position in Improvement of Reduction Methods for Space Systems and Sub-Systems Thermal Models (m/f) has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space at its Toulouse site.

The aim of this internship is to perform the state of the art of various resolution methods for thermal models and to identify the most suited methods for various project needs conducted by Airbus Defense & Space (observation satellites, telecommunications satellites, optical instruments, equipment, etc.)

This internship will start on 1st March 2017 (subject to some flexibility) for a period of approximately 6 months.

Profil recherché

Tasks & accountabilities

The intern will notably evaluate new reduction opportunities offered by the Systema software, TMRT software (developed in the context of an R&D ESA), the method based on flow assessment, as well as a so-called “neuronal” method (developed by Airbus Aircraft).

A comparison will be performed between the various methods used to assess the most suited method for each need based on concrete industrial cases. The implementation of each method will be improved in order for thermal analysts to reduce process reduction models and recommendations will be established for each method (elaboration of guidelines).

Finally, the delivery process of reduced models (eventually including a conversion between the various thermal software used: NX, Esatan, Systema) may be improved and made more robust.

Furthermore, this internship will provide a good opportunity for the intern to become familiar with the thermal analysis software and methods used on various programmes of AIRBUS Defence and Space.

Required skills

·  You are in the final year of an engineering school or equivalent (5-year degree) in the Thermal field,
·  Good knowledge of thermal engineering: nodal method, finite elements, radiation, conduction, etc.),
·  Knowledge of thermal analysis software, such as Systema, Thermisal and/or Esatan,
·  Knowledge of NX Thermal would be a plus,
·  Knowledge of programming: Python, Fortran, Shell/Awk, Visual Basic,
·  An advanced level of English and intermediate in French.
