Description of the job

Airbus Defence and Space (Toulouse) is looking for an intern for a 6 month internship.

Your internship will take place within the AOCS, GNC & Flight Dynamics department in Toulouse, in close cooperation with the rest of the Geostationnary AOCS studies group (in charge of AOCS development for telecom satellites).

This internship will start on 1st September 2017 (subject to some flexibility).

Tasks & accountabilities

From telemetry data transmitted by the satellites in flight, you will analyse the in orbit behaviour of the Attitude and Orbit Control System (AOCS). Thanks to comparisons with results obtained on simulation means, the activity will allow to:

·  analysing potential anomalies of the on-board control system and take part in the design, development and the implementation of palliative modifications in the event of anomalies,
·  better understanding the real physical phenomena in flight, and refining the models of external disturbances contributing to the performance of the satellites,
·  validating the dynamics and equipment models used to design the control laws implemented on the on-board calculator.

Depending on opportunities, you will take part in the operations of reorbitation of a satellite at the end of its lifetime.

Required skills

You are in the 2nd year of a master's or the 5th year of engineering school, university or equivalent specializing in Aerospace Engineering.

You ideally have an initial experience in this domain and you have competencies in automatic and filtering, dynamics of the satellites, general mechanical engineering.
A knowledge of data processing: Unix, language C, Matlab/Simulink would be a plus.

You are a strong team player and have excellent interpersonal skills.
