Description of the job

An internship offer has just been opened within Airbus (Commercial Aircraft), in Toulouse (Blagnac site).
You will join the “Architecture/Integration & Business Support” department within a team of 20 people based in France.

You will work directly with the person in charge of environmental aspects and will gain exposure to a wide spectrum of departments within the company, inside and outside the Engineering function.

Environment is a growing concern in modern societies. Policies to protect the environment develop at a relatively fast pace. Airbus is an industry leader and therefore takes environmental matters seriously.

Environmental trends are a key tool to aid decision making both at levels of interactions with other aviation stakeholders and to adapt the designs of its products where it really matters.

Your mission will be to support modelling capabilities (linked with Big Data) with an objective to improve capabilities to predict environmental trends in terms of climate change, local air quality and population exposure to aircraft noise.

This internship will start from April 2018 (date subject to flexibility depending on your school) and will last 6 months.

Tasks & accountabilities

You will be in charge of :

·  Analysing current modelling capabilities and processes
·  Proposing ways of improving these capacities and/or processes
·  Proposing alternative ways to perform environmental modelling that will allow the assessment of several scenarios: regulatory or technological
·  Setting up the project and kick it off

Required skills

You have the following training, experience and skills:

·  You are completing a 5-year degree (or equivalent) in aeronautical engineering
·  You have a good knowledge of the aeronautical and environmental sectors
·  You master data analysis
·  A knowledge of the Matlab modeling tool would be a plus
·  Your ability to analyse and synthesize will be major assets to fully carry out the missions entrusted to you
·  You also have good communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills
·  English: advanced level
·  French : intermediate level
