Description of the job

A great opportunity for a Flight Control System Engineer / Electro Mechanical Equipment Specialist has arisen within Airbus Toulouse.

The jobholder will join Electro Mechanical Actuation department.

The department belongs to Aircraft Control Domain.

The mission of the department is to design and support a safe and robust Control of the Aircraft , thanks to the development of Mechanical and Electromechanical Actuators.

Key technical challenges are Design for Safety, Maturity, Environmental constraints and optimised Cost.

The job holder will also have Leadership challenges on Leading Suppliers, and in acting as responsible for development and
support of an equipment or family of equipments in link with Program, Procurement, and Customer Service.
The Electro Mechanical Equipment specialist will be responsible for Specification, Development and In Service support of Electro Mechanical equipment from Flight Control System.
This equipment includes Pilot Control Equipment such as Rudder Pedals, Side Stick, Thrust levers, and Actuators such as Trimable Horizontal Stabiliser Actuator.

The job older will first take responsibilities in development activities for Rudder Pedals Control Units, on A350 and A320
Programs.

Then he will get opportunities to develop and grow, on additional flight control system equipment, on other Programs.

Tasks & accountabilities

As the successful candidate, your main activities will include:

·  Performing equipment specification, product verification and Integration on the system and the Aircraft.
·  Being responsible for reaching Safety of flight, Certification, and Maturity objectives.

As part of your responsibility, you will interface with the supplier in charge of Designing and Manufacturing the equipment.

The role includes significant Airbus stakeholders and supplier interfaces; with some occasional travels including the US, France and Germany.

This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company's success, reputation and sustainable growth.

Required skills

As the successful candidate, you will need:

¤ Degree in Aeronautical/ Mechanical engineering (or equivalent)
¤ 3 years or more of industrial experience
¤ Electrical/ Electronic competence is a plus
¤ Good communication skills and a pro-active approach to problem solving;
¤ The ability to work to strict timescales as part of an integrated, multidiscipline team
¤ Proactive, problem solving and decision making
¤ Good leadership skills
¤ Assertiveness
¤ An advanced level of English is required
