Description of the job

A vacancy for an Electrical & Power architect (m/f) has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in Toulouse. The successful applicant will join the Electrical & Power & Harness MSC department (TSOTE4), in charge of serving the Telecom project as per the standard Major Satellite Component (MSC) structure and processes:

·  End-to-end design & production activities of Electrical & Power subsystem for Eurostar 3000 and Eurostar Neo telecommunication spacecraft, from proposal phase (bid) up to in-orbit acceptance test of the spacecraft, including :

 Customisation of the Electrical & Power subsystems, in support of Satellite Design team
 Justify activities for system reviews (PDR, CDR, TSR), in support of Project team
 AIT activities (Assembly, Integration & Test)
 Lessons-learned capitalization on Product

Tasks & accountabilities

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

During Custom phase:

·  Definition of the Electrical & Power subsystem architecture, performances and associated budgets (generic product customisation, electrical interfaces compatibility, spacecraft power budget analysis, margin computation for solar array & batteries)
·  Participation to spacecraft system trade-offs : assessment of the performances and cost of the proposed architectures to support system trade-offs
·  Definition of the electrical harness constraints in collaboration with the project Harness architect
·  Participation to the equipment specifications, assessment of equipment non-conformity at system level (in analysis or test)
·  Contribution to the definition of electrical distribution and protections
·  Definition of electrical and functional synoptic

During Justify phase :

·  Contribution to system project reviews (PDR, CDR, TSR) in support to Project team, data pack preparation (design justification analyses)
·  Management of customer interface for the Electrical & Power activities in support to Project team : non conformities to customer specification justification, subsystems presentation during system reviews, customer training
·  Validation & AIT activities preparation : test specification release, test procedure reviews

During AIT phase :

·  Contribution to validation & AIT activities : test results reviews, participation to TRB, investigation on anomalies & recovery actions
·  Management of customer interface for the Electrical & Power activities in support to Project team : test result presentation, justification of anomalies
·  Contribution to launch preparation and launch activities
·  Participation to LEOP phase (Launch and Early Orbit Phase) : in-orbit operation and in-orbit acceptance tests

In collaboration with Product team :

·  Process improvement proposition for the Electrical & Power subsystem, lessons-leaned capitalization at Product level
·  Competitive architecture proposition in accordance with E3000 catalogue product, always preferring reused design and in any circumstances will insure design to cost method
·  Participation to electrical synthesis group tasks such as E3000 electrical industrial file improvement, process improvement (internal as well as interfacing with other groups) avoiding any non-added value tasks and leading to an optimised and lean proces

This role may involve business travels (once every three months in Europe) and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.
On-call support needed (several weeks per year).

Required skills

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

·  3 years of experience in spacecraft electrical engineering and/or testing
·  Knowledge of one or more of the following : Power or Data Handling subsystem
·  Understanding of EMC issues
·  The ability to efficiently organise and co-ordinate work, provide innovative solutions and to communicate them.
·  The ability to identify issues, to escalate, to prioritize
·  The ability to work within a team environment. Inter personnel skills.
