Description of the job

A vacancy for a Electrical HVDC Network Specialist has arisen within Airbus in Toulouse.

Natural trend is to go towards more electrical aircraft, making the Electrical System (ATA24) more and more important. Power Electronics and Electrical Distribution are therefore ones of the 17 Airbus Competencies Priorities for 2018 and for the coming years.

Electrical System R&T team has the responsibility to prepare the electrification of the Aircraft, from incremental solutions targeted on existing programs, by developing the More Electrical Aircraft where the only energy onboard will be the electricity, and then working on Electrical propulsion for the After Next Aircraft.

The job holder will be in charge of HVDC Stream in order to develop the new Electrical Network standard.

Tasks & accountabilities

In this frame, the jobholder will have several missions:

·  Simulation activities (SABER, others)
·  Subcontracting Management
·  R&T proof of concept and Technical Readiness level (TRL) preparation
·  Contribution to More Electrical Aircraft (MEA) and other R&T projects
·  Participation and expertise for electrical propulsion project

The jobholder will work in a multidisciplinar and international environment, and will have to manage interfaces with very diverse entities (Airbus laboratories, universities,...).

Regular Travel in France and Germany are foreseen.

Required skills

As the successful candidate you will be able to demonstrate some or all of the following skills and competencies:

·  Degree in Engineering / Electrical engineering
·  Experience in electrical components design
·  Experience in simulation
·  Knowledge on Electrical physical phenomena (arching, ageing) would be appreciated
·  Experience in Project Management would be a plus
·  Good communication skills and ability to spread his message to non-specialist community
·  Strong negotiation skills
·  Ability to convince
·  Team spirit
·  An advanced level of English is required
·  An intermediate level of French would be nice to have
