Job Description

Would you like to work in a very challenging environment where your technical and negotiating skills will be an asset? Do you want to represent Airbus outside of the organization? A vacancy has arisen at Airbus India for the position of Landing Gear Designated Airworthiness Engineer (DAE). You will ensure Airbus Operations Ltd has a robust system for handling Certification projects and processes. You will primarily handle the Landing Gear activities from hydro-mechanical, structural and systems installations aspects. 

You will exercise privileges under Airbus Design Organization Approval (DOA) granted by European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and ensure certification documents are provided for allocated certification tasks.

As the jobholder, you will report operationally to the Head of Sub-domain Wing Structure & Landing Gear (IIAASU). You will focus mainly on the Certification of Landing Gears.

Experience Required: - 10 – 15 Years  

Tasks

In the Airworthiness and Certification domain, we are responsible to maintain the privileges granted to Airbus by the International Airworthiness Authorities, which allow Airbus to design, build and fly our aircraft. We have a key role in ensuring the future of the company.

You will be part of a close group of both Wing Structure and Landing Gear Airworthiness and Certification Engineers. The primary role of the team is to ensure timely assessment and approval of all the Wings and Landing Gear projects that are made by Airbus Commercial to ultimately ensure aircraft can be delivered to our customers as scheduled. We act as Project Managers, owning the certification process from start to finish. We expect all our Airworthiness & Certification Engineers to behave with integrity, respect, understanding their responsibilities and always with Safety as their top priority, but also to have an awareness and understanding of the business needs in terms of deliveries, customer happiness and “Right first time” quality. 

The main tasks and responsibilities of the role will includes:

Manages timely accomplishment of UK led Modifications.

· 
Reviews TRS for airworthiness input and classification

· 
Manages the integrity, philosophy and timely completion of certification projects proposed to both the EASA and the foreign Authorities in the framework of major and minor changes for all aircraft types.

· 
Empowered with decision making for Airbus when interfacing with Authorities and as such, resolves conflicts and complex issues with the Airworthiness Authorities and take decisions and actions on behalf of Airbus.

· 
Provides Airworthiness Approvals and independent check of certification documents within agreed DOM nomination (for Type certification and modification) on behalf of EASA (CVE/DAE signatories).

· 
Management of the approval of modifications and release of Service Bulletins to meet aircraft delivery and customer requirements.

· 
Perform airworthiness activities in the modification process, specifically preparation/processing of approval of MAS and Airworthiness Signature, classification, act as Major Change Coordinator, preparation of Major Change Documentation and submission to Authorities, and interface with the Authorities technical experts

· 
Participate in creation of new IT tools/processes for use within the Airworthiness//Certification environment, both internally and externally

This role would be ideal for someone who has successfully developed a core skill in Landing gear or Hydro-mechanical systems, and would now like to broaden their horizons within Engineering.

Skills

We are looking for a person with the following skills and experience:

· 
Excellent teammate but still able to work autonomously

· 
The ability to deliver using persuasion, negotiation and influence

· 
A strong background in Landing Gear or Hydro-mechanical systems or Airframe Structure,

· 
Some Airworthiness & Certification experience is an advantage, but not essential

· 
Able to quickly understand and synthetize technical topics and deliver a clear message

· 
A degree qualification in a relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent.

· 
Ideally a Chartered Engineer, or working towards achieving Chartered status

· 
English at negotiation level
