Description of the job

You want to design the Cockpit of today and tomorrow for the Airbus fleet? An opportunity as " Cockpit Layout Integrator" (h/f) has arisen within Airbus Toulouse! You will contribute to modernise the design of our cockpits as well as modernising the design methods we use. Therefore inspiring ourselves from other business fields (typically automobile), from other aeronautical experiences, and taking benefit of new digital techniques such as Virtual Reality.

The jobholder will join the Cockpit System Department, who is in charge of the definition, development and support of key critical functions of all Airbus programs cockpits.

This includes:

·  Cockpit Displays, Warning and Controls which provide to the crew with a user friendly Human Machine Interface
·  Cockpit Layout, Seats, Windshield, Windows, Cockpit Lights, which provide to the crew safe and adapted operability to his environment.
·  Anti-Ice Systems and Fire Detection Systems to provide means to the crew to safely operate the Aircraft under critical events and conditions

Within the team, you will be fully responsible to interface all Aircraft Systems with the Cockpit.

The Cockpit Layout Integrator designs and implements solutions for existing and new Aircraft: first of all in definition phase the candidate will be closely in interface with many other aircraft Systems teams, with the Cockpit Operation team, with the Human Factor team, with Pilots and with Flight Test Engineers, with Program and Support teams.

Then he/she is responsible of the specifications, and of the full development including Verification and Validation activities. He/she monitors Suppliers activities as well as activities performed with the Airbus Flight Test center until the implementation and the certification of the System. After entry into service, he/she is also responsible for further developments, and supporting the product to ensure its good in-service behavior.

The jobholder will collaborate with many others teams due to the amount of interfaces which characterizes our systems: this requires flexibility, ability to work in a team, outstanding Technical rigour, and good Project management capabilities.

Tasks & accountabilities

The main activities and roles include:

·  Contribute to the functional requirements at upstream level
·  Deliver the System Interfaces Documents (SID) in coordination with the interfaced functions or systems
·  Deliver the technical specifications
·  Drive the development process (supplier reviews, tests (Lab and Aircraft), certification), and by providing the relevant set of data and documents in collaboration with Subcontractors.
·  Support the safety analysis
·  Responsible to In Service Support

Required skills

As the successful candidate you will be able to demonstrate some or all of the following skills and competencies:

·  Educated to engineering level (or equivalent) in mechanics or physics or a related discipline.
·  3 to 5 years of Experience
·  An experience in similar activities in another business field (automotive) would be interesting
·  Knowledge in Aircraft Systems and System Engineering processing would be a plus
·  A first experience or knowledge in Project Management would be apreciated
·  Positive change mindset regarding news topics (innovation) and new methodologies (Digitalization, Big DATA…)
·  Good communication skills and agility
·  Team spirit
·  Willingness to learn
·  Interest in technical analysis
·  Ability to work in a multi interface environment with transversal links
·  An advanced level of English is required
