Description of the job

A vacancy for a Big Data Engineer (m/f) has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space in Manching. The successful applicant will join “Support System Engineering”.

Tasks & accountabilities

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

·  Data exploration

·  Includes searching, selecting and filtering records:

·  Browse, recognize / suggest important attributes and identify frequently used attributes, determine data origin, recognize
common patterns

·  Data modeling / structuring

·  Providing data sets for maschine data models and logical data structures and discover relationships between data source attributes,

·  Apply data mining techniques, perform statistical analyses and use machine learning techniques to integrate analyses into
existing solutions and business processes

·  Assistance in aligning the technical and functional evolution of the Airbus Big Data platform

·  Data products

·  Development and implementation of data visualization of data results

·  Support in the implementation of proof-of-concept and projects within the Eurofighter community

·  Pioneering role

·  Promoting new working methods and new data governance models

·  Presenting the results to different target groups; from engineers to managers

·  Sharing and exchanging data sources and data sets

Required skills

·  Bachelor or higher degree in computer science, mathematics or equivalent engineering (MS or PhD preferred)

·  Experience with data integration, quality and management to combine independent sources to achieve a more complete view

·  Knowledge of statistical analysis (e.g. mean, standard deviation, correlations, etc.)

·  Strong analytical skills

·  Experience in data manipulation, data cleansing and feature engineering,

·  Programming knowledge in one or more of the following languages: R, Python, Java, Matlab or similar

·  Knowledge about machine learning, data mining, statistical analysis and modelling

·  Knowledge of visualization tools (such as RShiny, Spotfire, Tableau, etc.)

·  Basic knowledge of Hadoop infrastructure (e.g. HDFS, Spark)

·  Solid experience with SQL technologies (SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, SAP, BW), NoSQL databases (HBase, MongoDB, ArangoDB, Cassandra), ETL concepts and tools

·  Persuasiveness in presentations and ability to present convincing and clear concepts

·  Persistence in solving problems, assuming responsibility until the problem is solved

·  Learning flexibility, curiosity and creativity and innovative 'out of the box' thinking

·  Good communication skills, both written and oral

·  Experience in leading workshops to find requirements and find solutions

·  Teamplayer: collaborative thinking and working methods

·  Fluent in German and English
