Description of the job

A permanent job opportunity has arisen for an “Aerodynamic Power plant/Nacelle Design Engineer” (m/f) within Airbus to be based on the Toulouse site in France.

Tasks & accountabilities

The Airbus Aerodynamics team is looking for an aerodynamic engineer to join the Power plant Aerodynamic Design team in Toulouse.

This group is responsible for the aerodynamic design of the nacelle, pylon and associated air systems along with the aerodynamic integration of the Power plant for all Airbus products.

The main focus of your activities will be in a first step on the propulsion system for future Airbus aircraft; in particular aerodynamic nacelle design for high bypass ratio engines and related research projects.

Your responsibilities will allow you to see the entire aerodynamic design process:
¤ CAD activities to generate aero shapes,
¤ Multidisciplinary constraint negotiations within Airbus and external to Airbus
¤ Computational Fluid Dynamics and associated post-processing to assess design and aero performances,
¤ Wind Tunnel Testing,
¤ Flight Test preparation, follow-up and data analysis,
¤ Regular communications to the Programmes and R&T stakeholders.

Through your development you will also have the opportunity to support the aerodynamic design of the pylon and air systems for different programmes and research activities.
We are looking for someone who will be a team player, but also able to operate across organisational boundaries within both Programme and R&T projects, with the capability to address lead technical challenges and drive an innovative approach.

You will work with Aerodynamic Powerplant Design specialists and experts and will be involved in the EGAC transnational organisation.

Required skills

As the successful candidate you are able to demonstrate the following skills and competences:

·  Degree in Engineering or equivalent,
·  Experience in Aerodynamic is mandatory (at least 3 years),
·  Experience in Power plant and in Nacelle is mandatory,
·  Industrial Operational Experience,
·  Experience in complex Computational Fluid Dynamics simulation is mandatory,
·  Knowledge of CATIA V5, CFD code, Python and Unix would be appreciated,
·  Knowledge of disciplines as structure design and acoustic would be appreciated,
·  Experience of managing suppliers / sub-contractors would be highly appreciated,
·  Advanced level in English is mandatory,
·  Advanced level in French would be appreciated.

This role has been graded position II.
