Description of the job

Airbus has decided to launch "Nacelle In Sourcing" project for the A320neo equipped of the Pratt & Whitney's Pure Power PW1100G engine.
The objective is to redesign internally Air Inlet, Fan Cowls, Thrust Reverser Unit, Plug and Exhaust and to become overall Pylon, Air inlet & Nacelle integrator to enable new and more efficient architecture.

NIS project incorporates performance improvement, Recurring Cost (RC) reduction for nacelle components and Make or Buy strategy optimization.
To reach this goal, a permanent job opportunity has arisen for an "A320 NEO Nacelle In Sourcing Thrust reverser design engineer".

You will join "TRU" team within "Nacelle make" organization in Toulouse, in charge of performing engineering development of A320neo NIS thrust reverser.

Tasks & accountabilities

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

·  From MatA (Elementary Maturity level) to certification, evaluating, defining, designing and developing concepts and technical solutions for TRU perimeter,
·  Ensuring product certification designing in compliance with state of the art practices and policy defined by the Centre of Competence, as well as with airworthiness regulation, flight safety and product liability advisable policies,
·  Organizing design activities to meet with program requirements in terms of Time/Cost/Quality/Performance,
·  Managing all engineering subcontractors and Risk Sharing Partner (for design workload) to secure on time, on cost and on quality deliverables. You will monitor the overall progress versus program objectives, providing clear directives and associated support to secure achievement,
·  Ensuring close collaboration with transverse team to anticipate inputs needs and having an harmonized approach with the others nacelles components,
·  Ensuring Design activity is performed in close collaboration with Stress activity and Manufacturing activity,

Team strong objective is to deliver product with low Recurring Costs and design competencies need to be involved to reach this objective.

In addition, team strong objective is also to deliver a product with a better maintainability as current products. As a consequence, maintenance plan will have to be as light as possible and REX (lessons learnt) will have to be performed to avoid existing in-service occurrences.

The specific nacelle environment is rich and complex, you will have many opportunities to improve your technical and soft skills with:

·  Hybrid structures metallic/composite, light and hard metal,
·  FBO (Fan Blade Out), burst duct, aerodynamic, ventilation, thermal and vibrations loadings,
·  Numerous aspects to be considered on top: fire, lightning, sealing,
·  Big supplier companies and engine manufacturers to work with, requiring good negotiation and communication skills,
·  Exciting Nacelle In Sourcing program with important challenges for Airbus,
·  Multi-task environment inside a proactive team,

This role will involve around 4 travels for business per year and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.

Required skills

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

·  At least 3 year experience in Engineering Design ideally on Thrust reverser structure,
·  Good knowledge in mechanical & electrical systems would be a plus,
·  Good knowledge in Airbus design methodologies would be appreciated,
·  Proven experience in project management (end to end project management),
·  Good communication skills, ability to convince and federate,
·  Negotiation level in French & advanced in English.
