Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

Parley is a non-profit initiative to address the major issue of global ocean pollution through raising awareness, educating and organizing initiatives.

Parley is an environmental organization, that runs several initiatives contributing to its cause. One of them is dedicated to Ocean Plastic where it aims change ways of consumption, clean up existing plastic waste and set new recycling standards. It therefore collaborates with global brands (e.g. adidas) and local partners. Today, operations are focused on Maldives and Sri Lanka.

adidas x Parley product-lines use fibers recycled from Ocean Plastic. Parley Operations is the area within adidas that ensures a steady and transparent supply of Ocean Plastic.

Key Responsibilities and Projects:

· Allocate volumes between different locations
· Update and manage supplier roadmap
· Optimize tracking tool to improve operational efficiencies and support forward planning
· Design process mapping of demand and supply of Parley volume
· Support development of supplier roadmap for upcoming seasons
· Support projects and data analytics as needed

Key Objectives:

· Materials planning including regular tracking of supply vs demand
· Operational processes in supply chain suppliers
· Collaboration across Parley, adidas internal and external suppliers
· Get exposure to a high-profile project which is part of the company’s strategic priorities
· Get understanding of sports product sourcing operations, overall picture and with a focus on material processes and supplier management
· Create tools and processes to improve operational efficiencies
· Learn how to manage suppliers and relationship with different cultural background

Key Relationships:

· Adidas Materials Sourcing team across divisions (footwear, apparel)
· Parley Operations team
· Raw Material suppliers & Recyclers

Required main study courses:

· Enrolled student at an accredited college or university with emphasis on the areas of business, environment, supply chain, information systems, or operations.

Required language skills:

· Fluent in English (oral and in writing); Chinese is a nice-to-have.

Additional skills/ qualifications:

· Good interpersonal and communication skills with interest/ability to understand the bigger picture
· Ability to adapt and meet critical deadlines with good planning and organization skills
· Intermediate/advanced level on Excel and Power-point
· Self-motivated with a keen interest to learn

Internship regulations:

The internship is 6 months full time starting in December 2018

Studentmust be enrolled at the university for the complete duration of the internship
