As Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer you will be responsible for providing specialist technical support to the site operations and maintenance functions and for ensuring the site complies with all regulatory requirements relating to the safe installation, operation and maintenance of electrical, instrumentation and control systems.

This role will have a strong level of ownership and responsibility for the daily operation of the on-site Combined Heat and Power plant (CHP) ensuring safe and reliable delivery of key utilities to the wider site. Further to this there will be opportunity to take a leading role in the installation and commissioning of several upcoming projects as part of asset lifetime extension and compliance with the Industrial Emissions and Large Combustion Plant Directives. A large portion of the role will be hands on and require regular interactions with operations and maintenance on site.

Primary Responsibilities:

·  Providing technical support and advice on equipment failures, root cause investigation, reliability improvements, facility and equipment strategies.

·  Provide E & I engineering support to projects including front end design inputs, reliability and operability advice, and commissioning support.

·  Develop, maintain and apply standards and procedures for the design and maintenance of E & I systems.

·  Maintain and update E & I documentation including datasheets, loopsheets and schematics

·  Have working knowledge of Hazardous Area Classification, Electrostatics and the ATEX directives

·  Share knowledge internally/externally via technical resource network forums.

·  Ensure efficient and reliable operation of CHP processes and equipment through boiler optimisation, GT and ST operational strategy, water treatment plant management , emissions monitoring and Key Performance Indicator tracking and corrective action.

·  Manage and support CHP control systems, liaising with system vendors and managing support contracts to ensure safe and reliable system operation.

·  Contribute to the development of control system obsolescence management and upgrade plans.

Candidates should also have demonstrated experience of:

·  Troubleshooting and fault finding instrumentation, control and electrical systems

·  Provide E&I expertise to PHR & PHA's, alarm reviews and safety audits.

·  Ensure instrumentation represented on PIDs is correct

·  Carry out safety and reliability root cause investigations

·  Supporting major maintenance activities e.g. plant shutdowns

·  Understanding of relevant legislative requirements, (Electricity at Work Regulations, DSEAR, ATEX, BS7671 etc)

·  Control Systems: e.g. Distributed Control Systems, Safety Instrumented Systems, PLC Controls, Gas Turbine Controls.

Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

·  Electrical/Instrument engineering experience in an operational environment, preferably at a Power Generation or a COMAH facility in the chemical or petrochemical sector.

·  Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel, and have the ability to learn new systems quickly.

·  Strong written and verbal communication skills.

·  Good interpersonal skills are required.

·  A self-starter who can identify, prioritise and accomplish multiple tasks.

·  Able to work within an empowered team environment.

Education:

·  Engineering degree in Electrical/Instrument Engineering, Masters preferred, and working towards Chartered Status.

This is a full time position working 40 hours per week. The initial contract is for 3-6 months and will be reviewed during this time.
