We are recruiting for a part-time, six month contract for a talented Communications Coordinator to join a well-respected south Birmingham based charity, dedicated to the needs of older people. Your role is to raise the profile and impact of their work with older people through digital, print and promotional materials.

This role is to begin asap and will be for 24 hours per week on a six month fixed term contract. Full time salary equivalent for this role is £22,000-£24,000.

Our client provides a range of services for older people, principally nursing care homes, as well as sheltered and independent housing, welfare guidance and a handyperson scheme.

You will be an ambitious creative professional with top-notch writing and team-working skills. You will share their passion for improving the life choices of older people, dealing sensitively and compassionately with issues, whilst engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, from families to funders and regulators. You will have previous experience of managing commissioned agencies/freelancers and ideally, experience of managing budgets. You will be objective focused and keen to contribute to a forthcoming review of branding and strategic communications.

Main duties

Marketing communications

Plan, edit, write and produce content for a variety of internal and external communications including the Annual Report, client-facing newsletters, team brief, news items and press releases.

Plan, manage and deliver effective marketing campaigns linked to specific projects such as recruitment drives.

Support advertising requirements, event planning or management, and related promotional opportunities across the organisation

Print, digital & Social Media

Manage the key corporate communication channels including website, corporate literature, staff communications and social media ensuring that they have high quality, compelling content to engage existing and new audiences.

Work with external suppliers, as required, managing all elements of the production process ensuring work is completed to time and budget, with the necessary consents in place e.g. photographers, graphic designers, printers.

Monitor and track performance across all channels to ensure effectiveness of their marketing activities.

Market research

Assist in preparing and administering survey and focus group activities to understand and foster their values and culture.

Assist CEO in relation to the forthcoming brand and strategic communications review.

Administration

Respond to all marketing enquiries

Prepare reports in relation to communications detailing impact, action plans and recommendations, where appropriate.

Ensure brand guidelines and templates are employed for both internal and external use.

General

Undertake other duties from time to time as directed by the CEO.

Attend and represent the client at meetings as required

To ensure compliance with all policies and procedures relevant to the service.

Essential knowledge and skills

First class verbal and written communications skills for a variety of formal and informal purposes

Excellent copywriting and proofreading skills

Ability to build rapport, trust and confidence with colleagues and others

Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail

Proven ability to work independently

Proficient in information management and IT skills to include the use of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook

Prior experience in corporate communications

Demonstrable evidence of planning and delivering effective communications strategy and plans

Experience of creating design briefs and overseeing print or display production

Development of social media content

Managing multiple projects and complex work flows

Highly motivated, creative and dynamic

High attention to detail

Effective team player

Able to work flexibly; this may include occasional evening or weekend work
