Web Developer

Job description

The purpose of the Web Developer is to develop new websites and maintain existing e-commerce platforms (websites and internal tools). The Web Developer will be collaborating with developers, designers, testers, and marketers to produce outstanding customer experiences, developing, and maintaining high traffic e-commerce sites visited by customers worldwide. The Web Developer will report to both the Assistant Director, IT Projects and Area Director of Technology and Business Innovation and work with them to implement new Projects (dealing with websites), core business applications (both remote and onsite) and technology standards into the hotel while working with different groups, vendors, and operational stakeholders on new innovations.

Reporting to the Assistant Director, IT Projects and Area Director of Technology and Business Innovation, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

·  Experience in developing desktop and mobile applications
·  Fluent in CSS (Foundation or Bootstrap), JavaScript and HTML, with an understanding of CSS preprocessors including Sass and LESS
·  Strong knowledge of Linux, PHP and MySQL, with working understanding of MongoDB, PostgreSQL, AngularJS, Express.js, Oracle, React, Ember and Node.js
·  Knowledge of code versioning tools including Git, Mercurial, and SVN
·  Experience working with debugging tools such as Chrome Inspector and Firebug
·  Experience working with languages such as Java, Net, Python, PHP or Ruby
·  Working experience as a full stack developer preferably with WordPress development
·  Experience customizing WordPress themes and/or building WordPress plugins
·  Experience deploying and architecting websites on AWS is a plus
·  Experience working with server technologies including Apache, ISS, Node.js, Nginx and J2EE
·  Experience in API design and development
·  Understanding of libraries including Backbone.js and jQuery
·  Experience with AJAX
·  Strong knowledge of data structures, system design and algorithms
·  Good communication, ability to project manage and teamwork skills
·  Good understanding of website architecture and aesthetics
·  Great attention to detail and possesses an analytical mind with good organizational skills
·  Work closely with the Project team in the design, proposal, and implementation of application systems / websites for the Hotel
·  Work closely with the Project team on changes pertaining to the website or issues and communicate it back to the Area Director of Information Technology when required
·  Work closely with the Project team to communicate web technology related plans, actions, and decisions with stakeholders
·  Attend project and related meetings as required
·  Travel if necessary
·  Perform any other duties as assigned by Management

Qualifications:

·  College or University Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a similar field
·  3 years + of professional web developer experience.
·  Fluent spoken and written English
·  Must work well under pressure and be able to manage multiple projects and issues simultaneously
