JOB DESCRIPTION:

SAP Basis Application Architect

We are seeking an experienced, high caliber person to work closely with team leaders and technical leads to determine Basis requirements for current project and support priorities, develop solutions and deliverables to meet those requirements, and work with technology staff members to implement and document best practice solutions.

Impact this role will have within the organization:

• Act as a thought leader in the area of SAP Basis to develop and maintain a highly available and efficiently performing SAP technical solution in support of business priorities
• Review, document, and plan the implementation of software lifecycle activities for SAP, third-party, and supporting technologies such as operating system, virtualization software, and database applications that make up the greater SAP solution
• Research and provide input on new software needs and their integration into the existing solution
• Collaborate with partner teams on the set up, maintenance, and performance of infrastructure components that have impact on the existing SAP landscape such as network, hosting solutions, storage and more
• Provide advanced technical direction to the team in specialty areas such as SAP printing, network and application performance monitoring and tuning, and system landscape standardization
• Proactively review SAP notes for updates on upcoming releases, changes in technical configuration, or security concerns that could impact the current systems and supporting software that make up the SAP solution as a whole
• Plan for SAP installations, system sizing (capacity planning), disk / storage / server layout, and system installation
• Act as an escalation point for critical technical and performance issues that require advanced technical knowledge and trouble-shooting capabilities
• Plan and assist in testing of the SAP Solution's disaster recovery efforts in support of the larger business continuity requirements of the company
• Design and develop solutions to support the end user SAP processing experience through integration of the SAPGUI, SAP printing, SAP Single Sign-on, SAP Adobe support, and other solutions as required by the business
• Create and maintain technical documentation in support of the SAP solution that can be used as a reference point for future planning, audit review, and in collaboration with partner teams
• Provide leadership in developing the Basis organization's technical staff through individual mentoring and team technical presentations

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Management of Information Systems, Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience
• 8+ years' experience in IT with diverse technologies and roles
• 6+ years' experience as a SAP Basis administrator providing support and guidance to SAP Basis team or large contribution to several SAP Basis projects
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in a technical leadership capacity
• Experience with multiple full life cycle SAP projects, preferably with global organizations
• Working knowledge with SAP in most of the following areas: SAP WAS 6.xx & 7.xx, SAP Solution Manager 7.x, SAP Business Warehouse 7.x, SAP CRM 5.0, SAP SCM 5.1 (including APO), SAP ECC 6.0, SAP Enterprise Portals 7.x, GTS 10.1 and GRC 10.1
• Strong time management and organization skills
• Highly self-motivated and directed
• Strong project management skills with excellent attention to detail
• Experience working in a team oriented, collaborative environment
• Experience with operating system administration (Unix/Windows/VMware)
• Strong network monitoring and troubleshooting experience relevant to SAP applications
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, problem-solving, conceptual and performance tuning skills
• Strong customer focus and management of client expectations
• Excellent communication (written/documentation and verbal) and interpersonal skills
• Ability to take on complex projects and assignments without detailed specifications and provide leadership direction to other SAP Basis personnel as appropriate
• Experience in working in a SOX regulated environment
• Excellent reputation for building relationships across various levels of an organization

• Ability to travel up to 10%

Preferred Qualifications:

• SAP Certification on UNIX platform
