Our location in Abbott Park, Illinois currently has an opportunity for a Postdoctoral Scientist, Protein Fermentation.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

This is a Postdoctoral Scientist fellowship and will last up to three years.

Activities and responsibilities for the Postdoctoral Scientist, Protein Fermentation will include:

·  Design and develop prokaryotic fermentation processes for production of recombinant proteins.
·  Conceive, plan, design, and conduct advanced bacterial fermentation studies as independent contributor or lead scientist and interacting/coordinating with other groups and functions on project development and improvement.
·  Design and conduct experiments leading to the development and implementation of new or improved prokaryotic fermentation processes producing proteins.
·  Participate in cross-functional teams; collaborate with protein purification, analytical and assay development scientists.
·  Evaluate and summarize data using analytical methodologies, interpret results, draw conclusions and recommend options for future experiments to achieve project goals.
·  Design and conduct experiments, accomplish established milestones and summarizes data, interpret, results and draw conclusions.
·  Document studies effectively and timely in laboratory notebook.
·  Evaluate data using analytical methodologies to achieve results.
·  Recommend options for future experiments.
·  Present scientific observations at team meetings.
·  Anticipate, recognize and resolve technical problems.
·  Participate in project planning, updates and process improvements.
·  Establish and review complex plans for multiple projects or activities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

Required:  

·  Ph.D. in microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or related disciplines.
·  Basic computer skills
·  Advanced Knowledge of multiple analytical instruments
·  Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proven ability to work in a team setting

Preferred: Microbiology, Biochemistry

·  Experience with bacterial expression/fermentation
