JOB DESCRIPTION:
Primary Job Function:
- The primary function of this job is to oversee and coordinate daily activities within Distribution Operations for both Abbott nonexempt and contract personnel to ensure compliance with Quality, Regulatory, Corporate and Departmental Guidelines, Training and Performance objectives.
- Distribution Operations is responsible for processing approximately 2500 orders for Diagnostic products daily both domestically and Internationally.
- Warehousing Operations is responsible for receiving, storage and handling of commodities at the K5 and K2 Warehouses.
Core Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.
- Individual assists shift supervisor/manager with work assignments, movement of personnel and ensuring
customer orders are processed appropriately to meet transportation regulations, carrier deadlines and
customer receipt expectations.
- Individual ensures manufacturing needs are met in a timely manner.
- Coordinates training activities and assists shift supervisor with HR issues including performance appraisals, development plans and corrective counseling.
- Follows up with freight forwarders, logistics and customer service to ensure commodities are shipped and received in a timely manner.
- Performs analysis for complaints and performance data trending.
- Responsible for implementing and maintaining quality systems.
Position Accountability:
- Failure to meet deadlines for completing orders or providing necessary commodities to manufacturing or
shipping operations could result in work stoppage, backorders, customer complaints as well as loss of
business profits.
- Failure to ensure proper labeling and packaging could result in fines or damage to product.
- Failure to ensure proper training of employees could result violation of procedures, poor quality and failure to meet customer expectations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Individual must possess an in-department knowledge of warehousing/distribution functions which include
receiving, storage and retrieval of commodities.
- Must have good written and oral communication skills.
- Must have good interpersonal skills as well as the ability to analyze and problem solve to resolve floor issues in a timely manner.
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks and work under pressure.
- Must have knowledge of GMP, FDA, and ISO regulations as well as IATA and DOT regulations.
- Must have good working knowledge of quality systems and metrics.
