JOB DESCRIPTION:

Division: Abbott Molecular

Reports to:  Head of Commercial Excellence and Operations

Location:   Johannesburg

Purpose:

• The Business Analyst is responsible for supporting AMD’s commercial reporting in Region Africa team and supporting the company's strategic business objectives.
• Ensure timely & accurate preparation of monthly sales projection files per sub-region & country of Region Africa
• Guarantees timeliness and accuracy of monthly forecast with continues tracking & highlight of risk
• Compile & update the full inventory demand plan for Region Africa
• Assist with setting up P&L’s for new business, Tenders etc

   

Primary Objective of Position:

• Integrated Business Plan & Sales Projection Files
o Integrated Business Planning — Supports IBP process / reviews monthly, assist with data analysis and ensure follow up on information.
o Ensure compliance to Division requirements for IBP and ensuring improving trends of all IBP metrics. Assist with detailed analysis of problematic areas with sustainable improvement ideas.
o Monthly preparation on Sales Projection Files (sales forecast) for Region Africa (revenue and instrument forecasts).

 

• Reporting
o  Prepares Africa Reporting to EMEA HQ and US HQ: Africa Growth Charts / KPI tracking reports on monthly basis
o Manage Africa KPI Dashboard to track on in country stock levels, DBS & Plasma ratio, utilization on instruments, number of instruments in country, stock on hand etc.
o Track monthly revenue performance based on forecast; highlight risk & opportunities (contingencies)

Provide Quarterly trackers to Plan to Region Africa team

•         Price / P&L
o Assist with preparation of P&L / EPIC model for new business, tenders, contract extensions etc.
o Economic Profitability — supports and coordinates EP initiatives in the territory, provide support to the team with EP related queries. Monitor EP progress and development within territory. Assist by identifying appropriate opportunities for EP improvement and assisting with implementation and monitoring.
o Overall Pricing responsibility for the region, annual pricing overview (according to tender / contact / agreement)
o Assist with Price / Volume Mix analysis & Pricing impact scenarios
o
• Demand Planning
o Manage the overall demand planning for Abbott AMD Region Africa
o Prepare the IBP List Number files for EMEA HQ on monthly basis & evaluation Synch chart supply on monthly basis to ensure the supply can cater for Other Africa needs
o Close collaboration with Distribution Manager in Germany to communicate accurate GAD dates to all funders and purchasers in Other Africa
o Close collaboration with PFSCM, PSM on Order Monitoring & ensure timely communication

 

• Accrual & Journal assistance
o Extract test volume data from DOMO to prepare financial accrual data for Lancet Laboratories on monthly basis; work alongside procurement team to ensure accurate Purchase Orders 
o Other related tasks as assigned by direct supervisor or other key AMD leadership.

• Any other ad-hoc tasks / projects from direct line manager or MD Region Africa

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERTISE :

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance / Business Admin or equivalent relevant experience required.

Experience :

Typically requires 3-6 years of Finance, Business Analyst, Demand Planning, Commercial Excellence role

Experience having worked for a Medical Diagnostics OR Medical Devices company is preferred

Strong Excel Skills (Advance user)

Excel modeling skills (ability to create a model that can easily be updated as major assumptions change)
