Finance Shared Services Centre (FSSC)

Position Summary
We are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our team in Finance Shared Services Centre.
The Assistant Accountant is accountable to deliver, as part of the wider team, accurate and timely financial information from the point of transaction through to financial close and periodic external reporting (monthly, quarterly, and annually). This individual will support all accounting processes, through effective, efficient and regulatory (SOX) compliant finance processes, and in accordance with local and consolidated GAAP/IFRS.
Responsibilities include:
o Completion of specified weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual tasks as per the control system tasks list
o As part of the team, support the completion of the close process for your particular site(s)
o Seek to identify improvements to the various processes assigned and implement those improvements in conjunction with the Continuous Improvement team on site.
o Completion of statutory returns such as Statistical returns, surveys etc.
Essential Functions:
o Preparation and/or entry of all calculated figures for the tasks assigned.
o Build relationships within the team and the extended team in Cherrywood and at the various Abbott sites.
o Ability to solve and participate within various teams, in problem solving of issues as they arise
o Responsible for completion of the general accounting processes and activities of the Shared Service organisation that are assigned.
o As an integral part of the team to which assigned; develop and deliver process documentation, training content, and support super user support for more complex accounting activities, as requested.
o Participate in process improvement reviews across retained finance, captive shared service and outsourced teams as a part of ongoing exception management and continuous improvement activities
o Support data integrity and preparation of financial information to ensure completeness, accuracy, timeliness and accessibility of financial information.
o Understand, participate, and comply with standard demand management and service management processes.
o Perform ad hoc and special projects assignments, as required.
Job Qualifications and Experience Required
o Part Qualified ACA /ACCA/CIMA Accountant or Accounting Technician Qualification
o 1-3 years of general accounting experience in a complex global environment
o Demonstrated capability to understand accounting outcomes and explain accounting treatment, utilizing excellent communication skills
o Ambitious Self Starter with a strong sense of team
o Excellent Communication skills as this role requires interactions across multiple teams.
o SAP or other enterprise systems experience
o Shared services experience preferably, in a complex global accounting environment
Minimum Language Skills: English required, other languages desirable
