Tasks:

ABB provides hardware and software for many industrial applications. One application domain is the monitoring of primary equipment in substations. In this challenging environment we develop monitoring systems for gas insulated (and other) switchgear where reliability and availability and ease of use are important concerns. Now we are interested in optimizing our products in terms of the system architecture to achieve even higher efficiency in the future.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Investigate system architectures for our products.
- Implement a prototype.
- Analyse the new architecture in terms of cost and sustainability and compare to the existing one.
- You will be working with a current product.
- You will work in close collaboration with our team and present your work and results.

Requirements:

- You are a highly motivated student of computer science or a related field.
- You have knowledge of software architecture.
- You have experience in object oriented programming (C++) and Linux.
- Ideally, you are familiar with the analysis of software architectures.
- As a good communicator, you have sound English skills in speaking and writing.

Internships:

We give you the scope to try things out for yourself and obtain practical experience. Your time is valuable, so you will receive appropriate remuneration for the duration of the internship.
Please note that internships are generally limited to six months.

Thesis:
With the approval of your university, you can complete your master's degree by spending three or six months with us as you work on a practically focused thesis. You define the subject matter with us, with the support of the right contacts in various departments.
