Internship in Optical Sensor Development

Job description

The department for optical sensors develops measurement systems for use in ABBs power products. We are looking for a motivated student to support our development team in the field of optical current sensors. The internship lasts 4 to 6 months and starts in September 2018 or by agreement.

Tasks:

- Support the development of a new optical current sensor
- Design & build experimental setups for characterization of sensor components
- Computer-controlled automation of the measurement procedures
- Evaluate test results & perform theoretical calculations and simulations
- Document results

Requirements:

- Bachelor or master student in natural sciences (physics preferred)
- Good knowledge in optics
- Experimental skills, prior practical experience with optical setups preferred
- Experience using automation and simulation software (LabView, MATLAB, Mathematica)
- Good command of German or English (written and spoken)
