Internship HBO/WO Automatic emailing for embedded windows devices

Job description

For the main location in Eindhoven, Spirit IT is looking for an intern. Our department Spirit IT, part of the ABB group, provides the global oil and gas industry with advanced flowcomputers and measurement and automation solutions. This software is used by the largest oil and gas terminals in the world, working on thousands of devices and servers 24/7. The flow computers (running under embedded WinCE on ARM platforms) convert raw measurement data received from flow meters and temperature/pressure/other sensors into custody transfer records (roughly, how much does it cost).

Tasks:

One of the features requested by customers is to have the option to get alarms and reports automatically emailed to them on creation. At this point we have never tried something like this.

For the assignment we would expect the following:
1. An investigation into the technical requirements, including how we can do this without counting as an "internet facing solution" due to cyber security requirements
2. Create a proof of concept to email one our more advanced reports with a standalone utility
3. Create a component matching all our and markets quality standards and integrate this into our software

Requirements:

You are an enthusiastic and motivated Bachelor- or Master student Software Engineering or Embedded Systems.
You are accurate, can work autonomy and you are not afraid to ask questions when this is needed. You write and speak fluent English. This is a must-have for working in a global company, you will be working in a team with 7 nationalities.
