Job Summary :

The successful candidate will serve in the Knowledge Discovery & Analytics’ Current Awareness function and take a lead role in evaluating and planning the future of alerting services for 3M.  A mixed service model of Custom Alerts, Custom Reports, and Do It Yourself Alerts is in place.  The Current Awareness leader will identify, evaluate and implement new solutions that best serve 3M needs.  A robust training program for Do It Yourself alerting will be led by the successful candidate.

This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military environments to a 3M career.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

·  Working with vendors, colleagues, users and management to create a future vision for 3M Current Awareness Service.
·  Training groups and individuals in how to use and setup alerts in 3M corporately funded technical, patent and business information resources.
·  Evaluating information resources and work with vendors to customize solutions to meet 3M needs.
·  Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:  

·  Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

Preferred Qualifications:

·  Experience creating product requirements and evaluating software solutions
·  Strong interest and ability to evaluate and implement best-in-class alerting services for scientists and corporate decision makers
·  Determination and ability to be a change-agent
·  Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline
·  M.L.I.S. or other information science accredited degree
·  Project planning experience
·  Enthusiasm for helping researchers, managers, product developers keep up-to-date and competitive
·  Ability to work collaboratively with a matrixed team of information professionals
·  Effective presentation and communication skills
·  Experience writing user documentation
·  Experience training business professionals or post-secondary faculty and students

Location :  Maplewood, MN

Travel:  May include up to 10% domestic/international

Relocation:   Is authorized
