Job Description
Define, justify, implement, and validate manufacturing processes for optical sub-components, components and modules. Specifically high accuracy attach of micro optics using micro applications of epoxy and various alignment techniques for SM fiber coupling.Responsibilities:Work with a team of engineers and scientists to develop and bring to manufacturing new processes required for new productsPerform experimental tests to validate and optimize prototype designsScale-up design, and work with equipment vendors to qualify and specify equipmentUse sound engineering practice and modeling techniques to design equipment fixtures and processPrepare proposals for capital expenditureManage equipment installation and start-upProvide technical support and expertise during design, install, start-up, and preliminary production runs of new processesProvide technical training and expertise to operators during process implementationProvide technical oversight during start-ups to observe, troubleshoot, and document any process or scale-up issuesTrack process metrics and drive process improvementDevelop manufacturing plans.

Highly skilled in using DFM, DOE, FMEA, gauge R&R, and problem solving skillsHigh familiarity with use of Statistical Tools and Software such as JMPMust have very recent experience working full time on a manufacturing lineDemonstrated record of failure analysis, yield and cycle time improvementKnowledge of six-sigma, SPC and process capability, OCAP, written procedure, operator training, Kaizen or continuous improvement, lean manufacturing techniquesPrevious experiences - preferably in optical components, modules or solar industriesDemonstrated ability to work with and drive cross-functional groups and external partnersStrong track-record of developing and implementing innovative solutions to complex problems in a timely mannerDemonstrated use of project management skillsKnowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures in a manufacturing environmentExcellent verbal and written communication and interrelationship skillsKnowledge and understanding of process flowsAbility to observe and understand existing and new processes
